The Borough has an adaptable workforce with an excellent labour relation's record. A wide range of primary and secondary education facilities complement locally based specialist training facilities and the Further Education establishments of Myerscough College and Blackpool & The Fylde College - Fleetwood Nautical Offshore Campus. These enable the necessary training for employment and personal development to be carried out.
At the higher educational level Lancaster University and the University of Central Lancashire, both within 20 minutes of Wyre, provide an excellent range of courses, suited to the modern economy. Both Universities have world class education and research reputations that are easily accessible by the local business community, having partnership arrangements in place with Wyre Borough Council and a network of support providers
Current Economic Projects within Wyre include:
- Cleveleys Promenade Bid – Application for funding for the environmental works £1.01 million
- Wyred Up Business networking – Successful programme of events working with existing and new business and potential investors into the area
- MAA – New business start-up, provision of new start business support across the Fylde coast with a Wyre Focus
- LAA – Economy Theme Group – working on local recruitment and employment practices with partners and agencies such as JCL, LSC and Colleges
- Neighbourhood Management North Fleetwood – focus on Employment issues in Pharos and Mount ward under the neighbourhood management initiative
- Represent Wyre at a sub regional level on Economic Regeneration partnership – Lancashire Economic Partnership
- RDPE – Rural Development Programme for England – working with rural businesses to allow them to access funding and create a sustainable rural economy
